ALL OUR CAR TIRES ARE ALREADY EV COMPATIBLE
Because of their battery, electric vehicles are heavier than their internal combustion counterparts, and yet boast faster initial acceleration. This specificity coupled with high torque, a quieter engine and the constant quest for greater battery range, all contribute to making EVs particularly demanding on tires.
WE EQUIP HALF OF ALL CAR BRANDS THAT PRODUCE EVs⁽¹⁾ AND IT'S NO COINCIDENCE
Our engineers work closely with leading electric vehicles manufacturers such as Porsche, Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Volkswagen, Ford, Hyundai, ... to design tires with performance that matter to EV owners and make electric mobility more enjoyable.
Optimising tire performance for your ev
Go further between every charge
To maximise battery range, EVs need low rolling resistance tires. Since 1992 starting with the MICHELIN Energy tire, we have halved the rolling resistance of our car tires.(3) Today, we offer tires, like MICHELIN Pilot Sport EV, that extend range by up to 60km thanks to low rolling resistance.Go the distance on your set of tires
EVs need tires with increased longevity. MICHELIN X, the first radial tire, significantly increased the durability of our tires. Since then, we have continued to offer long-lasting tires.
Enjoy a quieter drive
Internal noise caused by the tires is a major concern with noiseless engines. Thanks to MICHELIN AcousticTM technology, the internal noise of the vehicle can be reduced by nearly 20%.(4)
BE READY FOR ELECTRIC MOBILITY WITH OUR TIPS & ADVICE
Game changing tires for electric vehicles
We innovate everyday to meet the challenges of electric mobility.
MICHELIN e.PRIMACY tire
MICHELIN e.PRIMACY tire is designed to reduce the energy consumption(5) of passenger cars. It is chosen by car makers to equip their electric, hybrid or low fuel consumption vehicles.
Electric Scooter tires
MICHELIN City Grip Saver tire is specially developed for electric scooters. It increases battery range thanks to low rolling resistance(6) while maintaining the renowned longevity of the MICHELIN City Grip range!
E-Bike tires
MICHELIN e-WILD tires are designed to optimise battery life, tire longevity and power transmission. Do you know that 70% of our tires are compatible with electric bicycles?
FROM PIONEERS TO THE NEW GENERATION OF EVs
For more than 100 years, we design innovative mobility solutions that answer drivers' expectations, while minimising their environmental impact.
Overcoming electric challenges over the years
In 1899, Michelin developed the tires for “La Jamais Contente”, the first electric vehicle to exceed 100 km/h.
Designing long-lasting and energy savings tires
First with the MICHELIN X radial tire in 1946, then with the MICHELIN ENERGYTM tire in 1992, we significantly increased the longevity and improved energy savings of the tires(7).
Being a pioneer in world electric motorsport
We use our know-how acquired in FIA Formula E championship (from 2014 to 2022) and FIM MotoETM to design tires that fit EVs.
Designing tires for the next premium e-cars
Collaborating with Porsche on its fully electric 718 Cayman GT4 E-Performance, we proved that tires containing 53% bio-sourced and recycled raw materials can still perform in extreme conditions(8).

Trust MICHELIN INNOVATION for a better life in motion
Leading the way in electric mobility
We are at the forefront of electric mobility. Our engineers work closely with car, scooter & bike manufacturers to design tires with performance that matter to electric vehicles owners.
LEGAL MENTIONS
(1) Source: Michelin Automotive Original Equipment Department - internal database analysis on December, 2021.
(2) Results may vary according to vehicle, tire range and size, speed and road conditions.
(3) Rolling resistance of tires have been divided by 2 between the MICHELIN Energy (RR>12kg/T) compared to MICHELIN e.Primacy and MICHELIN Pilot sport EV (RR <5kg/T)
(4) MICHELIN Acoustic Technology reduces the perceived noise level, inside the car, by nearly 20% (Internal noise measurement, done in 2020 on size 245/45 R19 on KIA Cadenza. Noise level measured on the range "170-230Hz".) Results may vary according to vehicle, tire range and size, speed and road conditions.
(5) When new, MICHELIN e.PRIMACY generates 2kg/t on average rolling resistance less than competitors equivalent in fuel consumption reduction of up to 0.21l/100km for a VW Golf 7 1.5 TSI or equivalent of gain of up to 7% in battery range for a VW e.Golf. Energy consumption means petrol for thermic and hybrid vehicles, electricity for electric vehicles.
(6) very low rolling resistance thanks to new “Electric ready” silica-based materials with very low power dissipation, so your battery lasts longer than with the original MICHELIN City Grip. (Modelling of power dissipation between a 100/80 - 14 M/C 48S CITY GRIP SAVER TL and a CITY GRIP. Done at the Michelin Research Centre in France, in July 2018).
