This is a follow-up to my previous post. I am now on my second set of Cup tires and still think they are the best I've ever driven. As I predicted, my first set lasted about 1000 very hard miles (four track days and about that many auto cross events). I really can't say enough good things about these tires but I can tell you that they allow me to drive my Corvette way over my head. Empirically, I can report that my previous PS2 tires would register 1.1 g's after a run on my local track while these Cup tires consistently pull 1.3 g's on my meter. Problems: I've had a difficult time getting fresh tires (I refused 3 separate sets of rears that were three years old). Also, since ZP tires seen to be hard to mount, the last set had to be taken to three different (national brand) shops before the job could be completed. Still love 'em.

Phenomenal tires ! I drive a 2011 Porsche GT3 and these tires have gotten a terrific testing recently (June 2014). I drove high speed across West Texas, southern New Mexico into Monterey, Ca, with air temps in the high 90's-100's and then drove 50 + laps at Laguna Seca at race speeds and then followed that with the return trip thru Nevada and Utah at temps @ 100 degrees on into the twisty, winding roads in Colo and northern New Mexico and finished up this trip with a return across west Texas ! We put 5,000 hard miles on these tires and they handled everything spectacularly well. Still have maybe 3,000 miles of use left !

I drive a 2010 Corvette ZR1 that is primarily become a trackday car. I recently had to replace the original Pilot Sport PS2's after just 5000 miles secondary to flat-spotting the fronts, when the new tune-up / supercharger overdrive, changed the ABS threshold, when I locked them up briefly while threshold braking. The PS2's were fantastic tires, great grip and wear; very excellant feedback on the track. PS2's give a nice controlled drift when you push to the limit on a Corvette. I was looking to upgrade to an even better tire (if that exists?), so I looked at the new AS/3 specs which look fantastic but they don't make them in the ZR1 sizes yet. The only other tire made that works for my car is the CUP tires. I was concerned that the wear rating is not good on that tire, and it looks like it only has half the tread of most tires, to start with. Yesterday I did a trackday at Daytona which the 32' banking stresses tires to the max (as does 730hp / 720ft.lbs tq) and the tires worked FANTASTICALLY !!! The day was warm and the grip was terrific when the track was hot and in full sun. It was the same when it became overcast and on the first lap with cold tires. The tires are unbelievable!!! Places I can get the car to understeer slightly, it didn't understeer, it didn't drift, just hooked and turned in, like it was on rails! I had to change my lines because I found I could turn in harder, and get out quicker, at 10 mph faster, everywear on the track. I have a lightly modified ZR1 and I can say that these tires can more than handle the power and abuse this car can dish out. Even when I got out of shape while braking off camber, or turning in too hot, the tires just gripped and got it done! I am super impressed that they can out perform my abilities and my high performance car. I highly recommend these tires and will be using them or the next generation of them, in the future.
